Who are we?

Dandelion Spring is led by Beth Schiller, but the real work of growing vegetables can be attributed to an amazing team of farmers that have cut, bunched, and washed many thousands of pounds of food.

In 2018 Dandelion Spring moved to it’s forever farm in Bowdoinham, with an easement held by Maine Farmland Trust.

A Maine native, Beth dreamed of owning a farm long before she realized it could be her vocation. Now over 20 years into this game, vegetables make her eyes sparkle, as do the sneaky roadside early blooms and late

When not making spreadsheets, fixing greenhouse structures, or locating missing irrigation parts, Beth can most commonly be found wandering around the local woods while day dreaming of dinner.

Beth is past president of the Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association, is currently on the Land for Maine’s Future board, and an avid cross-country ski marathoner.

“I grew up in rural Maine, not on a farm, but some of my favorite memories are of running and finding farm relics in the woods. I was a strange kid, presenting the school board with compost trying to convince them we needed to be more responsible with our school food waste, and from an early age, believing choices around food and farming is a metaphor for how we talk about and act other cultural and environmental issues.

I am grateful to all of you for what Dandelion Spring has become. I love the work. Over 20 years into this farming adventure, I still can’t believe it’s my daily experience.”
