Lemon verbena harvest on a cold morning has me feeling my heart. Every human deserves access to healthy, locally produced (organic) food. Did you know that @portlandmefarmersmarket doubles SNAP food incentive dollars for participants who shop at the market? Help us to support this program by attending our silent auction. Tomorrow! 9-1 at 631 Stevens Ave. (We’ve added some of our value added herbal products and a membership to MOFGA to the offering). #maineharvestbucks #mofgaorganic #mainefarms
“Maturity is the ability to live fully and equally in multiple contexts.” - David White // I love me some straight lines and “clean” crops and also the incredible nutrition of chickweed (Stellaria media) — the wild green wiggles between the lettuces. I now know it officially takes two years for the seeds of these babies to surface in a newly cultivated place. In the meantime, not knowing this, I planted some in a different greenhouse. Most production farmers are probably shaking their head at me (who would plant chickweed?) I’ll eat the chickweed over the lettuce any day of the week! #embracethewild #mofgaorganic #mainefarms #nutrition
I’ve been farming for a long time, and supported by so many wonderful organizations in Maine. Many of you may recognize this photo from @mainefarms many publications (who hold an easement on my land). As some of you know, I’m the current board president of @mofga . MOFGA’s impact extends out to every single one of us, trying to live our best healthy lives on healthy land. I’m following the good example of my friends at @broadturn_farm . For those of you who renew your farmers’ market credit today, you’ll receive your credit in full and additionally I’ll contribute 20% of your renewal value to MOFGA. A link to our square store is above in our bio.
Expansive fields for expansive thinking. Annual start to the lunch time walk routine. So grateful. #mainefarms #mofgaorganic
When you leave your kale bunches in the snow, do they feel it? See you tomorrow @portlandmefarmersmarket.
19 F. Seasonal beauty. Be outside. Live wild. Gather every leaf and root you can. Winter is coming.
